The Most Boring Childhood Ever.
#1 thing you need to do to last while building your personal brand.
( This mail is specially for those who replied "Community" to the the previous mail and also if you didn't read it,go read it now 👀)
All through my childhood days,I was a loner. My activities were triangular. From home to school to church then back home.Visited no one.Had no friends except my brothers.
Boring right?
For me it was perfect.
I was the reserved type,I didn't like having friends or playing with other kids.I just prefer reading short stories and playing with my Teddy bear only.( I hated Barbie dolls! Story for another mail)
Getting into highschool changed everything…
It was hard but I was still able to make friends..Just two people though.
Fast forward to when I joined Twitter.
I saw the importance of working with others and I decided to create one.
It's was not really a community..We were a pud of growing creators who went on a challenge.
"1k followers in 30days"
After the challenge, the group died off, because I didn't know how to keep it active I think.
Nevertheless I joined another one.
And it really pushed me to where I am now.
Now,I see most of you trying to grow on Twitter on your OWN!
Let me put it to you straight.
"You can NEVER make it on your own"
Quote me anywhere.🙂
ok..ok..Seyi,how can I build a community? It's very simple, just follow the steps below:
9 steps to build a strong community:
1.. Identify what you want
Write down the characters of people you want to be in your community.
Ex:
> Females and males.
> Intentional about growth.
> Ready to learn.
> Goal oriented.
Remember:
"You are Average of the 5 people you spend the most time with"
~ Jim Rohn.
2. Search them out.
Where can you find them?
• Comment section.
• On your feed.
Look around you'll find them everywhere.
3. Filter.
Remember the first step?
You use it to filter people you'll love to join your community.Observe what they do,if it resonates with you.
Then take the next step.
4. Be familiar.
Follow them and engage with their content for 1 week.
To make engagement easier for you, create a Twitter list and engage from there.
Now the next step will determine the success of your community.
5. Pitch them.
DM them and tell them you intention.
You can model this:
6. Create the group outside Twitter.
It much quieter and more personal outside Twitter.
Examples of Platforms you can use:
> Discord.
> Telegram.
> WhatsApp.
Just pick what works for you and your members.
7. Hop on weekly calls.
This is where the magic happens, especially when it's video calls.
On these calls you can
> Share your goals
> Keep each other accountable.
> Identify problems and solve them.
> Have fun.
8. Share important resources.
Maybe threads, tweets, books, docs, Google spreadsheet that can help others.
You're free to share it.
9. Set rules.
Any community without rules will become obsolete.
Sorry for using that word 😂
I meant it will fade away quickly.
Set the rules or you can run polls to help the members set the rules. No one will want to break the rules he/she set.
